D.C. Police Officer Shot, Wounded by Man Acting Suspiciously

When D.C. Metro police officers approached a man who was acting suspiciously, he pulled out a gun and opened fire, wounding one of the officers before fleeing.

A Washington, D.C., police officer was wounded when a man who had been behaving suspiciously opened fire Sunday.

The shooting happened at about 9 p.m. after D.C. Metro police officers noticed a man acting strangely in the 1400 block of Quincy Street Northwest, WUSA-TV reports. When police approached the man, he began shooting at them.

One of the officers was struck by the gunfire and was taken to the hospital. The injuries weren't considered life-threatening and the officer was later released.

Police pursued the fleeing shooter and barricaded the area. Officers did not fire any shots at the suspect.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
