A gunman who allegedly shot a Phoenix police officer last week was arrested Sunday following an hourslong standoff.
The incident happened after police received multiple tips about accused shooter Nicholas Cowan, KPNX-TV reports. Authorities had been searching for Cowan, 35, since Thursday after he allegedly opened fire during a domestic violence call at a gas station, seriously wounding an officer.
The information from the tips led officers to a home in Scottsdale, where multiple people, along with Cowan, were arrested. Once in custody, it was discovered that Cowan had been injured in Thursday's shooting and that he had been helped by an ex and others following the incident.
The wounded officer underwent surgery following the shooting. She is still in the ICU, but her condition is stable.
