An aspiring Queensland, Australia K-9 that was kicked out of the police dog academy for being too sociable has landed a new gig.
Police said that the German shepherd named Gavel liked to meet strangers and did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line, according to the BBC.
Gavel, who has been fostered at the official residence of the Queensland governor since he was six weeks old has now been dubbed the "Vice-Regal Dog."
"He has outgrown four ceremonial coats, undergone a career change, and brought untold joy to the lives of the governor, Mrs de Jersey, Government House staff, and the thousands of Queenslanders who have since visited the estate," the office of Queensland Governor Paul de Jersey said in a statement.
Gavel participates in special ceremonial occasions wears a custom-made uniform featuring the state emblems of Queensland.
