CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. -- A Chippewa Falls man has been cited for owning a vicious dog, after a police officer was forced to use pepper spray to stop the animal from attacking him Friday.

Kody L. Grimm, 18, of 235 W. Central St., was cited in the incident. According to the police report, a woman told police that Grimm's dog, a pit bull/dachshund mix, attempted to attack her at 8:30 a.m. Friday, but she ran from it. When an officer arrived at the scene, the dog also attempted to attack the officer, so the officer used pepper spray on it.

The city also is dealing with another pit bull that previously attacked another dog and a child and lives only a block away, at the intersection of Columbia and Island streets. Last week, the City Council voted to spend up to $800 to obtain a court order to have the animal euthanized.
