Ark. Police Officer Injured when Cruiser Struck by Gunfire
An Arkansas police officer was injured when the cruiser he was in was struck by a barrage of gunfire at an apartment complex last week.
The incident happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday when Pine Bluff police were responding to a disturbance involving gunfire at an apartment complex, KARK-TV report. At the scene, a patrol vehicle with an officer inside was struck multiple times by shots.
The officer in the cruiser suffered minor injuries but was not shot. Other parked vehicles at the complex were struck by gunfire, and investigators discovered over 26 shell casings in the parking lot, according to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette.
A 24-year-old man—identified as Quantarious Sission—was arrested just after 8:30 p.m. near the apartment complex by Pine Bluff police, Jefferson County sheriff's deputies and state police. Sission faces multiple charges, including attempted capital murder.
A second suspect—Chaderious Avery, 26—is also being sought in connection with the shooting. Investigators are seeking information about his whereabouts, and he's considered armed and dangerous.
Last week's shooting comes three years after the fatal shooting of Pine Bluff Police Det. Kevin D. Collins, who was killed in an exchange of gunfire at a motel during a murder investigation.
