Three Kansas sheriff's deputies were shot and wounded in a gunfight trying to apprehend a suspect Monday.
The incident happened when a Clark County deputy saw a suspect wanted for murder and tried to pull him over, KAKE-TV reports. That's when the suspect fled, and a chase ensued toward Dodge City.
"Deputies from the Ford County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol joined the pursuit," the KBI said. "Once the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop, gunfire was exchanged."
During the shooting, two Ford County deputies were struck, and a Clark County deputy was wounded. One suspect was fatally shot, while a second suspect was shot and in stable condition. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper also was bitten by a K-9 at the scene.
Both suspects were wanted for murder in Phoenix, Arizona.
