A veteran Arkansas police officer found a way to stay cool and connect with the community as temperatures soared across the state.
In a video recently posted online, North Little Rock Police Officer Tommy Norman showed how he beat the heat with a group of kids, KTHV-TV reports. Norman, who has been with the department for 25 years, was seen—in uniform—unsuccessfully careening down a slip-and-slide before being doused by squirt guns.
After the water fun, Norman shared snacks that he brought with the kids. The heat index reached 114 in North Little Rock, and the temperatures are expected to reach over 100 degrees and stay in the high 90s through the weekend.
Norman has gained a reputation for his community policing and has developed a large social media following.
