ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI—A Nigerian dwarf goat made an unexpected appearance as police investigated a motorcycle crash in Southwest Michigan.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, on River Road near Lambert Road, Lockport Township, according to the Michigan State Police.
A motorcyclist crashed into the guard rail and fled. Troopers set a perimeter and requested a police dog to track the motorcyclist.
The goat arrived instead and “quickly decided to assist troopers on scene,” MSP said.
The goat had wandered in and jumped into the back of a police cruiser as troopers collected evidence.
The goat shadowed a trooper investigating the scene, police said.
“He also thought it was cool to trample upon the point of crash,” Michigan State Police said.
Troopers were unable to locate the fleeing operator, but they captured some photos for social media with the goat before leaving.
MSP responded to a question online about where the goat ended up. The agency said it is unsure, but that it’s likely they returned him to his rightful owner.
