Wyandotte police pulled a man wanted on over a dozen warrants from his wrecked vehicle before it erupted into a fireball following a chase that reached speeds of over 116 mph.

A 28-year-old man wanted on over a dozen warrants was saved from a fiery crash by Michigan police, who were engaged in a high-speed chase with the suspect last week.

The rescue happened Thursday when Wyandotte police were pursuing Karar Nasser Al-Bedairi, who was wanted on 15 warrants, WJBK-TV reports. The chase passed through four cities, with Al-Bedairi reaching speeds of over 116 mph.

"The officers observed this vehicle driving like a complete maniac," said Deputy Chief Archie Hamilton.

Eventually, Al-Bedairi slammed into a pole, leaving him unconscious. His vehicle caught fire, and flames began spreading while he was still trapped inside.

Officers moved quickly to rescue Al-Bedairi from the wreckage.

"Get a fire extinguisher," says an officer in body camera footage of the incident."Get him out of the car."

Once officers pulled Al-Bedairi to safety, the vehicle erupted into a fireball. Al-Bedairi suffered minor injuries, and he was taken to jail to await arraignment on multiple charges.

"(The officers') heroic efforts were able to ensure this guy will see another day," said Hamilton.
