LAS VEGAS -- A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper is celebrated after pulling a distraught bikini-wearing woman from Interstate 15 traffic as she was about to be struck by a vehicle.
A dash-cam video provided by NHP shows the June 25 incident. The trooper arrives shortly after 10:40 p.m. to southbound I-15 near Sahara Avenue, blocking the left lane and exiting his squad car.
“What are you doing,” the trooper is heard saying to the woman as she is walking near the center median. “Talk to me, what are you doing out here?”
“You gotta talk to me; what’s going on?”
Shortly after, the woman takes off running. The trooper is seen entering traffic lanes and pulling her to safety just as a pickup truck or SUV came inches from hitting her at full speed.
“The trooper acted without regard to his own safety in order to save her,” NHP officials said Friday.
The woman was taken to University Medical Center for evaluation. Neither she nor the trooper were publicly identified.
