Trooper Stoyan Georgiev was paroling U.S. 95 in Las Vegas around 4:30 a.m. Friday when he received the heart-stopping call over the radio, according to KSNV-TV.

"I noticed the gentleman was standing outside of the vehicle with a rope and a German Shepherd," Georgiev told the news station.

Georgiev can be heard trying to sweet-talk the dog but instead, the dog hid under a pickup truck.

"We tried everything! The dog was just scared," he said.

Georgiev tried to corral the dog with a rope as he feared the animal would jump into the travel lane, but it managed to slip free.

After close to 30 minutes with the sun coming up, he attempted to bait the dog with a turkey sandwich and piece by piece, the dog came closer before ultimately ending up in the trooper's patrol car.

While Georgiev was relieved, he knew his job wasn't don't yet. Through the help of Facebook, the trooper was able to reunite the dog with its owner, Maria Olivarria.
