A person was killed and two others -- including an off-duty Escambia County, Florida Sheriff's deputy -- were wounded in a shooting outside a strip club early Wednesday morning.

The shooting took place around 5 a.m. after an altercation that began at the Red Rose Genleman's Club in Okaloosa County continued in a parking lot across the street, according to The News Journal.

Officials said that 32-year-old Dustin Edward Jones died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

The 27-year old off-duty deputy who was involved in the incident suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and a third individual was shot once in the leg. Both were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office won’t take part in the investigation but released a statement Wednesday afternoon:

We were notified early this morning that an off duty Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a shooting incident in Okaloosa County. The shooting is being investigated by the Okaloosa County Sheriff, Larry Ashley and the First Circuit State Attorney, Bill Eddins. ECSO has full confidence in these agencies and we will be briefed with the details of their findings later this afternoon.
