Here are some of the stories you may have missed that ran on our site this week:

Weekend (May 30-June 1)

Law enforcement agencies across the country were in mourning after four officers from different departments died in the line of duty.

A special deputy marshal with the U.S. Marshal's Service died Thursday evening after he was struck by a transit bus outside of the U.S. District Courthouse in Providence, R.I.

Special Deputy Marshal Frank McKnight was a veteran of the National Guard and had served with the Marshals Service as a court security officer for 13 years.

A Potter County, Texas Sheriff's deputy collapsed and died during a training exercise on Friday.

Sgt. Paul Buckles became unresponsive after falling ill during active shooter training that he was participating in with members of other area law enforcement agencies.

A Norfolk, Va. police officer and a 17-year-old boy were killed, and another officer was wounded during a series of shootings by a man late Friday.

The suspected gunman, 29-year-old James Andrew Brown, was killed by police after fatally shooting Officer Brian Jones.

A Griffin, Ga. police officer and was shot and killed outside of a Waffle House early Saturday morning.

Officer Kevin Jordan was working an off-duty security job in full uniform when Michael D. Bowman allegedly shot him multiple times.

A man convicted of killing two Tampa police officers four years ago was sentenced to death Friday.

Dontae Morris had been found guilty in the fatal shootings of police officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis on June 29, 2010.

Monday (June 2)

A Philadelphia school police officer died after collapsing inside a school bathroom after breaking up a fight.

Sgt. Daryl Giles was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent medical emergency in a staff bathroom at George Washington High School.

A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was recovering after being shot Sunday night.

Officials say that 49-year-old David Ricker shot Trooper Michael Trotta four times outside a residence in West Hanover Township.

A Chester, Pa. police officer responding to a domestic-violence call was wounded and a gunman was killed in a shootout.

Officer Matthew Steward suffered a gunshot wound just beneath his bulletproof vest on the left side of his abdomen and was treated at Crozer Chester Medical Center before being released.

A man is facing numerous charges after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in southern New Jersey with a police officer inside his car.

Officials say that when Florence police began speaking with Randy Eno Mase, the man tried to drive away and continued going when an officer entered his vehicle.

Tuesday (June 3)

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol cadet and a trooper are recovering after being shot earlier in the week during a training exercise.

During the exercise, the cadet and the trooper were shot with one bullet through the leg and through the hand.

A man wanted on suspicion of possessing explosives was taken into custody after a three-day manhunt.

Federal agents and the San Francisco police Ryan Kelly Chamberlain II shortly after announcing that they had found his car.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a new task force to overhaul how New York City's corrections system treats the mentally ill.

The announcement comes following the deaths of two inmates with psychological problems.

The California Supreme Court ruled recently that police agencies must reveal the names of officers involved in on-duty shootings.

The court -- which voted 6-1 -- decided that agencies must do so unless there is specific evidence that disclosure would pose a safety threat.

Wednesday (June 4)

Three Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers were shot dead and two others were injured by a gunman in the east coast Canadian province of New Brunswick.

A massive manhunt was underway for suspect 24-year-old Justin Bourque, who was spotted wearing camouflage and armed with two firearms.

A Jefferson Parish, La. Sheriff's deputy was critically injured in a cruiser crash.

Deputy Jaron Fountain was responding to a reported burglary in Waggaman that investigators later discovered was false when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.

More than 100 alleged gang members were charged for what NYPD officials called a violent decades-old feud that at two public housing developments in Harlem.

The 103 suspected gang members face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and gang assault.

A massive manhunt for a heavily armed man suspected of stealing a New Hampshire State Police cruiser before abandoning it ended in the man's arrest.

Police say Navy veteran Anthony Reardon, who was wearing a helmet and body armor, was captured when the suspect slipped back through a police cordon.

Thursday (June 5)

A Curry County, Ore. Sheriff's deputy jumped into the ocean to rescue a drowning boy earlier this week.

Deputy Terry Brown stripped down, put a life vest on and went into the 50-degree water and held the boy's head above water for close to 45 minutes before the two were rescued by responders.

The Seattle Police Department's interim police chief reversed a finding that an officer used excessive force, citing new evidence.

Interim Seattle Police Chief Harry Bailey made the ruling in case of Garth Haynes, who stepped on the head of a handcuffed man outside a Ballard bar in 2010.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating how a life jacket came off a handcuffed man after he went overboard from a patrol boat and drowned.

Officials say the incident involving Brandon E. Ellingson occurred at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday evening after the 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of boating while intoxicated.

For years, police have used tattoos as a way to identify suspects, but only rarely do they play a role as proof of wrongdoing.

Criminal justice experts say it's hard for law enforcement to determine whether someone with a tattoo linked to a kind of crime actually did the crime.

Friday (June 6)

The man suspected in the shooting deaths of three Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the wounding of two others was arrested shortly after midnight.

Justin Bourque was arrested at around 12:30 a.m. in the town of Moncton in the province of New Brunswick.

Seattle police say that students at a small university helped subdue a gunman who opened fire, killing one of their classmates.

Officials say that one student pepper-sprayed Aaron R. Ybarra and subdued him with the help of others, preventing more deaths.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said he would seek assistance from privacy and civil rights groups before considering using unmanned aerial vehicles.

The LAPD recently received two UAVs from the Seattle Police Department.
