Pennsylvania State Trooper Shot by Suspect

Officials say that Trooper Michael Trotta was shot four times by David Ricker outside a home Sunday.

A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was shot in West Hanover Township Sunday night.

Officials say that 49-year-old David Ricker shot Trooper Michael Trotta four times outside a residence in the 7600 block of Green Hill Road around 6:30 p.m., according to WGAL-TV.

Trotta was listed in stable condition at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Ricker was also injured during the shootout and was listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery overnight.

Ricker is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assaulting a police officer and aggravated assault.

The incident is currently under investigation.
