Officers rescued four children still inside the home, taking them to a safe location. Police then tried to de-escalate the situation, negotiating with the suspect over the next 45 minutes. 

Finally, officers convinced the suspect to release the hostage. Once she was safely out of the home, police entered and took the suspect into custody without incident.

"Through communication and professionalism, officers were able to secure the safe release of the victim and take the suspect into custody without the use of force," the department stated. "This outcome reflects the restraint, training, and commitment of our officers to protecting the community."

The suspect faces multiple charges, including assualt with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
