The suspect, Benjamin Plank, fled the scene in a vehicle trailering a boat, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department, which is investigating the shooting. Plank allegedly had taken several guns with him, as well.

Police tried to pull over Plank, who shot at officers with a rifle during the pursuit. The officers returned fire, but no one was struck.

Finally, Plank stopped at the gate of Tinker Air Force Base, where he surrendered. He was taken to the hospital before being booked into jail on multiple charges.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the community of the Oklahoma County Sherriff’s Office as well as the families of the deputies, the department stated.
