A man accused of stealing a car and wanted on three warrants fled on a slow-moving piece of heavy machinery as Washington County sheriff's deputies walked behind for over half a mile.
Deputies in Oregon participated in a slow-speed police chase Sunday, walking after a suspect as he fled on a lumbering piece of heavy machinery.
The pursuit happened when Washington County sheriff's deputies went to apprehend Jesse Shaw, who was accused of stealing a car and wanted on three warrants, Fox News reports. They found him on property near Banks, driving an excavator.
When Shaw ignored orders to stop, the deputies began walking at a steady pace behind the excavator. The chase stretched for over half a mile before Shaw stopped, and he was taken into custody.
Shaw is charged with attempting to elude police. Sgt. Danny DiPietro called the chase the "world’s slowest pursuit."
