A man doing yard work was attacked by a swarm of bees last month, and body camera footage shows Lyford's police chief and another officer coming to his rescue.

  • A suspected shoplifter fleeing police ran onto an interstate in Miamisburg, grabbed onto a moving SUV and shattered its windshield while trying to take control of the vehicle before falling off and being arrested.

A Texas police chief and an officer saved a man who was attacked by a swarm of bees while doing yard work last month. 

Lyford Police Chief Marcos Garcia and an officer responded to a home July 13 where a man disabilities was trying to get away a swarm of bees while working on the yard next to his home, KRGV-TV reports. Body camera footage captured the response as the chief and the officer worked to rescue the man.

In the footage, the man is on the ground in front of a neighbor's home with a towel over him to protect him from the bee attack. The officers quickly put the man into their cruiser as the bees continued stinging and a jacket was retrieved for him for added protection.

The man was rushed to the hospital, where he was still recovering as of Friday.

Police discovered a hive in a nearby empty lot, and it was removed. Following the rescue, the department will be providing officers with more training when it comes to handling bee swarms and other insect-related responses.
