NYPD Sgt. Kevin Brennan took the stand to recount how Luis “Baby” Ortiz, 23, a Latin Kings gang member, allegedly fired at him at point-blank range after a wild chase through the Bushwick Houses on Jan. 31, 2012.

“He turned around on me as I was going to tackle him, and then he shot me in the head. I felt my body vibrate,” said the married Brennan, 29, who choked up several times during his testimony. “I was on top of him, and he got out from under me.

“He said, ‘F--k you, die,’ and then he ran away.”

Brennan calmly described chasing Ortiz after responding to a call of shots fired — but choked up describing the moment he was almost killed.

“I remember hearing it go off. I remember feeling it,” he said. “My momentum drove me forward and I fell on him. I remember my body shaking.”

Ortiz is on trial for attempted murder in Brennan’s shooting.
