SDS brings integrated active shooter solutions to Airports and Public Safety Authorities at the 91st Annual American Association of Airport Executives conference in Boston, MA

Boston, Massachusetts – May 9, 2019 – Shooter Detection Systems (SDS), the security industry’s leading gunshot detection provider to airports and transportation facilities, will meet with Airport Security, Emergency Management, Public Safety and other key leaders in aviation security at the American Association of Airport Executive’s (AAAE) Annual Conference and Exposition happening at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts June 16-19, 2019.

The AAAE annual meeting presents airports with the opportunity to meet with industry experts and peers, exchange ideas and best practices, gain key industry insights, and learn about innovations that  help continually improve the business of airports. The Guardian Indoor Active Shooter Detection System by SDS is one of these key innovations that airports are adopting at a rapid rate, including Charleston International Airport (CHS), Abilene Regional Airport (ABI), and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA/LAX) alongside other Category X airports. Airport Improvement Magazine recently published an extensive article on the CHS installation titled Charleston Int’l Blankets Pre-Security Areas with Gunshot Detection Sensors, which will be released in print in the May/June issue of the magazine.

With the rise of active shooter incidents, and past false active shooter reports at airports, aviation security experts are taking a closer look at gunshot detection as a means of improving emergency communications, response time, and awareness during active shooter incidents. SDS will introduce conference attendees to airport customer case studies including how U.S. airports are employing SDS’ certified security systems integrations with the transportation industry’s leading video, access control, and mass notification system providers including Genetec, C-Cure 9000, Milestone, and Everbridge.

Don Green, ABI’s Director of Transportation Services, selected the Guardian System for its zero false alert history, extended use in other airports and the core technology’s success on the battlefield during the Gulf War. “This system knows the difference between a gunshot and the sound of a bag drop or mechanical noise in the airport, which is extremely important,” said Green in a public news release. “Confirming that a gunshot event has occurred and getting that alert in sub-one second will allow our first responders to act fast.” Airports are also attracted to the system’s SAFETY Act Certification by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other multinational government authorities on anti-terrorism technology, giving airports third-party insights on system testing and performance qualifications that are unique to the Guardian System.

SDS extends an invitation to AAAE members and other airports attending the conference to join an exclusive offsite event on Tuesday, June 18th where the company will perform a live fire gunshot detection demonstration of the Guardian technology. To request an invitation to the event contact Kendra Noonan, SDS Director of Communications. To visit with SDS at the AAAE conference or to obtain more information, email or call 1-844-SHOT911.
