Geophysical Survey Systems Inc. (GSSI) offers a technology that provides search and rescue organizations with a tool to detect breathing. GSSI's SIR-3000 with Breathe function can locate trapped victims of avalanches, mudslides, or building collapse caused by earthquakes or terrorism. During a search mission, the system displays real-time information about the presence and location of trapped victims. Search and rescue personnel can be more time effective in their immediate post-disaster mission to locate and rescue the living. Since the system helps locate trapped victims much faster than existing methods, the number of casualties can be reduced or eliminated.
