Pa. State Police Introduce New Missing Persons System

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --

Pennsylvania State Police have introduced a new system to find missing and endangered person.

It's called the Missing Endangered Person Advisory System.

The system will be used if an elderly person with a mental or physical disability wanders from a long-term nursing facility, or if a child wanders from their mother in a crowded area.

MEPAS is not to be confused with the Amber Alert System, which involves abducted children.

Police will gather the information and pictures needed, and television and radio stations will broadcast to the public to get help finding the missing persons.
