Del. State Police Trooper Killed in Active Shooter Incident at DMV

A Delaware State Police trooper and a suspect were both dead following an active shooter incident that happened at a Division of Motor Vehicles branch in Minquadale.

A Delaware State Police trooper was killed after reports of an active shooter incident at a DMV on Tuesday.

The shooting happened at about 2 p.m. at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Minquadale, WPVI-TV reports. It's unclear what lead to the shooting and whether the trooper had been at the facility at the time or if he was responding to the incident.

Along with the trooper, the suspect also was dead following the incident, Gov. Matt Meyer stated on social media.

"Law enforcement acted swiftly to secure the scene, and the shooter has been confirmed deceased," Meyer wrote on X.

According to the state police, a second trooper suffered a minor injury that wasn't firearm-related and was evaluated at the scene. A 40-year-woman was taken to the hospital for minor injury that also wasn't firearm-related.

A 35-year-old woman also complained of shortness of breath and was evaluated, police added. But she refused to be taken to the hospital.

The slain trooper and the suspect have not been identified.
