A 24-year-old LAPD cadet "beloved by many" died suddenly last week, the department announced Saturday.

Dominic Malachi died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, KCAL-TV reports. No details were released concerning the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding his passing.

"Dominic, your smile lit up a room," the agency stated. "Your work ethic was highly praised. You will be forever missed young man."
