Mo. Corrections Officer Killed in Head-On Collision

Missouri Department of Corrections Officer Kelly Rolando was traveling to the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green following a temporary assignment when the crash occurred.

A Missouri corrections officer died in a head-on collision over the weekend.

Officer Kelly Rolando, 34, was traveling northbound along U.S. Highway 54 in Mexico when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Tesla headed southbound, KXEO-TV reports. Rolando and the driver of the other vehicle were both killed in the crash, and a passenger in the Tesla was taken to the hospital.

Rolando had been returning to the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green when the collision happened, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. He had been working a temporary assignment at University Hospital.

Serving with the Missouri Department of Corrections for eight years, Rolando is survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
