  • The drone followed the man as he tried to evade identification by removing his shirt, and officers later confronted him, leading to a peaceful surrender.
  • Police released the drone footage and said the incident shows how technology is helping officers respond faster and more effectively.

Las Vegas police used a drone to quickly locate a battery suspect last month, leading to the man's arrest.

Police had received a report of a battery near a casino shortly before 11:30 a.m. Feb. 28, the department stated in a social media post. A drone was immediately deployed as officers responded to the scene.

The drone quickly located the suspect and followed him as he ran from the casino. The aerial vehicle continued to track the suspect, despite the man taking off his to shirt to avoid identification.

Finally, officers were able to confront the suspect, who surrendered without incident. Video footage from the drone was released with the social media post.

"A clear example of how technology is helping officers respond faster and more effectively," the department stated.
