Ring Launches Rebate Programs and Neighborhoods Network to Fight Neighborhood Crime

Nov. 27, 2017
The company is now offering a joint rebate program with municipalities to give homeowners Ring Video Doorbells.

Ring, the leader in home security, has announced new programs and in-app tools to partner with local municipalities and law enforcement in an effort to reduce neighborhood crime.

The company is now offering a joint rebate program with municipalities to give homeowners Ring Video Doorbells. The program has already seen success in cities such as La Cañada, CA where the city offered a $50-per-household subsidy for Ring Video Doorbells, matched by Ring. Ring also gave homeowners up to $100 off a Ring device, and a $30 discount on additional Ring devices purchase. The program was scheduled to run for 120 days or until the $5,000 the City Council designated for the program ran out; in just a few days, the program completely sold out.

Ring has also launched Neighborhoods, a new network in the Ring app, to help local law enforcement better connect with their communities. While Ring Video Doorbells and Cams help protect users’ homes by creating a ‘Ring of Security’ around their property, the free, in-app Neighborhoods tool secures the community as a whole by enabling neighbors to share crime-related information with one another. With the Neighborhoods Portal, police are able to see all the crime-related alerts and videos that are shared by homeowners in their jurisdiction. The portal also allows law enforcement to post their own safety alerts that are sent to residents’ smartphones in real-time. When a crime or suspicious activity takes place, police can also send a request to owners of Ring devices to share their video feed during that date and time.

With these new partnerships with local police authorities, Ring continues be a proven leader in crime prevention in communities across the country. Interested cities and police departments can contact [email protected] for more information and to offer programs of their own.
