Norcross, GA (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 - Leica Geosystems today announced a 12-month initiative to support the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). Beginning October 1st, 1% of the sale of all 3D laser scanners, multistations, total stations, GNSS instruments, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), handheld distance measurement tools, software and other products to the law enforcement community will be donated to the Memorial Fund.
Founded in 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is a nonprofit organization dedicated to telling the story of American law enforcement and making it safer for those who serve. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Memorial Fund built and maintains the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, the nation’s monument to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The Memorial Fund also maintains the largest, most comprehensive database of line-of-duty officer fatality data, conducts research into officer fatality trends and issues, and serves as an information clearinghouse for officer safety. More recently, the Memorial Fund launched a campaign to build the first-ever National Law Enforcement Museum, adjacent to the Memorial in Washington, DC. The Museum will be the world's most comprehensive museum focusing on law enforcement and will tell the story of law enforcement through high-tech, interactive exhibitions, historical artifacts and extensive educational programming.
The world leader in 3D laser scanning solutions for public safety applications, Leica Geosystems is known for its high precision, excellent quality and reliability, and streamlined workflows, as well as outstanding customer service. Funding from Leica Geosystems will help support construction of the museum as well as the production of professional education opportunities for law enforcement and the public, the collection and preservation of historical law enforcement artifacts, and maintenance of the National Law Enforcement Memorial.
“The Memorial Fund honors the more than 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers serving in the United States and pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Chuck Coiner, manager of the Public Safety Group for Leica Geosystems. “We are proud to support such a worthy cause. Through our sponsorship, we hope to raise awareness about the Memorial Fund and the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect others.”
