Durabook Launches Triple-Display Rugged Laptop for Mobile Command Operations

The Z14I-DX3 integrates three 14-inch full high-definition displays with an edge artificial intelligence (AI) computing platform.

What to Know

  • Features three 14-inch full HD sunlight-readable touchscreens with multi-touch, stylus, and glove support for versatile field use.
  • Powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with optional NVIDIA RTX graphics, delivering up to 682 TOPS AI performance for demanding applications.
  • Supports edge computing with integrated AI, enabling real-time data processing without reliance on cloud connectivity.

FREMONT, California -- Durabook has announced the Z14I-DX3 Rugged Mobile Laptop, a triple-display, workstation-class system designed to give field personnel access to maps, video and operational data in one workspace.

The Z14I-DX3 integrates three 14-inch full high-definition displays with an edge artificial intelligence (AI) computing platform. The configuration is intended for professionals working in public safety, emergency services, defense, utilities and other demanding field environments.

The system is powered by Intel Core Ultra processors with an integrated Intel AI Boost neural processing unit (NPU). An optional dedicated NVIDIA graphics card provides up to 682 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance, according to Durabook.

For law enforcement and public safety operations, the three-screen configuration can support simultaneous access to mission maps, live video, sensor information, diagnostics and other operational applications. Durabook also identifies unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and drone control and telemetry as potential uses.

The integrated displays remain attached to the laptop during transport. The two additional screens fold inward for a more compact configuration and unfold at an operating location to create a larger workspace.

Durabook said the system is designed to support processing and analysis closer to where operational data is generated. This edge-computing approach can allow field personnel to analyze mission information without relying solely on cloud-based processing.

The three 14-inch displays feature 1,200-nit DynaVue sunlight-readable touchscreens, capacitive multi-touch and built-in on-screen display controls. Brightness can be synchronized across the displays or adjusted individually. The screens support finger/water, glove and stylus modes for different field conditions.

The Z14I-DX3 can be configured with NVIDIA RTX A500 AI, RTX 3500 Ada or RTX 5000 Ada graphics. Durabook said the RTX 5000 Ada configuration alone provides up to 682 TOPS of AI performance. Combined system performance from the graphics processing unit, NPU and CPU exceeds that figure, according to the company.

Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 4, dual RJ-45 Ethernet, two RS-232 serial ports, ExpressCard 54, Nano SIM and eSIM. USB connectivity ranges from USB 3.2 Gen 2 to USB 2.0. Wireless options include Intel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, with optional GPS, 4G LTE and 5G connectivity.

The laptop also includes security and storage features intended for mission-critical operations. Authentication options include a smart card reader, optional Windows Hello webcam, RFID/NFC reader and fingerprint scanner.

Two removable quick-release NVMe PCIe solid-state drives allow users to change storage drives without tools, which Durabook said can support operational continuity.

The Z14I-DX3 meets MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G certifications. Durabook said the system is available for purchase now.

“The Z14I-DX3 Rugged Mobile Laptop with its triple-screen display is a prime example of how Durabook goes beyond the expected upgrades of rugged computing technology,” said Sasha Wang, president, Durabook Americas. “The Z14I-DX3 combines the capabilities expected from a Durabook rugged computer with an expansive multi-screen workspace and AI capability in a powerful edge computing platform.”
