Azure Wireless introduced SafeScene, a fully automatic accountability system for first responders. SafeScene enhances first responder safety, assures reliable, error-proof, automatic accountability and improves emergency response and incident management through the innovative use of RFID and wireless networking technology, replacing the manual means of accountability currently used in first responder operations. SafeScene automatically detects the presence of fire, law enforcement and other emergency personnel at an incident scene and logs first responder and equipment identities as available for incident command and resource management in a Java-based, Microsoft Windows-compatible application, from which resources are assigned to tasks and monitored through the use of personnel accountability (PAR) timers. SafeScene includes administrative interfaces through which customization is easily achieved and provides time-stamped reports detailing incident events. With the ability to detect the presence of first responders at adjustable ranges of up hundreds of feet, SafeScene allows first responder agencies to allocate personnel to incident response activities and enable incident command personnel to more effectively and efficiently manage on-scene activities while providing an enhanced level of safety for first responders. When interfaced with third-party incident command management systems, SafeScene can provide these systems with automatic detection and logging of on-scene first responders.
