Video: Driver Crashes into London Police Station, Tries to Set It on Fire

A Polish man had been planning the attack on Edmonton Police Station for more than two years because of a grudge he had against the department, the Metropolitan Police said.

Security camera footage captured a driver crashing into a London police station and then trying to set it on fire in a grudge attack last year.

The incident happened at around 7 p.m. Nov. 11, 2020, at the Edmonton Police Station, the Evening Standard reports. A Polish man drove into the station's doors and then exited his car before taking a gasoline can from the back.

Video from the scene shows the man splashing gas on the station and in the street. Finally, the man lit the fuel and began walking away.

A witness tackled the man as the gas ignited on the street. Police took the man into custody and evacuated the station, as well as surrounding homes.

The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the man had been planning the attack for over two years because of a grudge against police because of past interactions. He chose the date and time because of the personal significance the numbers one and seven have for him.

The man pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, criminal damage and attempted arson reckless to life being endangered. He was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.
