LOS ANGELES – (Sept. 23, 2016) – Celebrate the fall season at the Elysian Park Police Academy on Saturday, October 29th, as the Eagle & Badge Foundation presents OktoberFest. This year’s OktoberFest is a fun casual event for LAPD officers and their guests, Eagle & Badge Foundation Members and friends which will also raise funds for the foundation and, at the same time, provide an opportunity to say thank you to the dedicated officers for their service.
OktoberFest begins at 5:00pm with the opportunity to check out a number of great craft brews and other libations while listening to some great tunes. Brews already committed include Sierra Nevada, Brewyard, Angel City, Golden Road, Lagunitas, Smog City, MacLeod Ale, St. Killians, and Ballast Point. They’ll be serving up a tasty BBQ of burgers, brats and more, and at 7:30 pm open the casino for poker, blackjack and craps – and some great raffle prizes. Don’t miss the pretzels, games, live music, and of course, the brews.
In addition to the Oktoberfest festivities, the event will continue to expand the awareness of the Eagle & Badge Foundation and our purpose. Funds raised provide critical financial support for police officers and their families, along with the children and charitable organizations in the communities they serve -- LAPD officers or family members with extenuating health issues; an officer’s child with a life threatening disease needing special treatment; trained service dogs for autistic children of LAPD officers, and many other requests. The Foundation has provided over 250 grants, helping families and community organizations. In 2014, the Foundation was also proud to unveil the End of Watch Memorial Wall dedicated to the 207 LAPD officers who have fallen in the line of duty – be sure to check out the EOW Wall Tractor/Trailer (the new home of the EOW Wall) at the event on the 29th.
