New York City, NY – The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that at the 35th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, which was held in New York City last night, October 8th, more than $1 million was raised. Of that total, $250,000 will be allocated to the Foundation’s scholarship program, which helps make college dreams a reality for the children of enlisted Coast Guard members.
“The Coast Guard’s motto is ‘Semper Paratus’ or ‘Always Ready’,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “We embrace that motto in everything that we do including our scholarship program. It is our goal to always be ready to help any enlisted Coast Guard member’s child get a college education. With the help of the generous donations we received last night, we continue to make that goal a reality.”
