Conn. Police Perform Back-to-Back Weekend Water Rescues

The Norwalk Police Department Marine Unit rescued two after their 45-boat sank in Long Island Sound and then pulled three people from the water Sunday after their canoe went under.

NORWALK, CT—For the second time in two days, emergency crews rescued people from a sinking boat in the Long Island Sound, officials said.

The Norwalk Police Department Marine Unit pulled three people from the water after a canoe sank off the shore of Calf Pasture Beach, according to a post on the department's Twitter account.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

But the rescue effort marked the second time this weekend crews were forced to respond to a vessel taking on water. On Saturday, two people were rescued after a 45-boat sank between Greens Ledge and Roton Point.

"A busy Saturday turned into a busy Sunday in Norwalk Harbor," police said in the Twitter post.
