Officer Down: Lieutenant Eugene Lasco

INDIANA-Lieutenant Eugene Lasco was killed by an inmate on February 21, 2021. Lt. Lasco worked for the Indiana Department of Correction. 

The inmate was being escorted to a common area of the facility when he attacked a corrections officer. Lt. Lasco attempted to assist the officer when the prisoner stabbed him. The prisoner was then subdued by other officers. Lt. Lasco and the wounded officer were taken to the hospital where Lt. Lasco succumbed to his injuries. 

The prisoner was serving jail time for three murders and will now be charged with the murder of Lt. Lasco as well as other offenses. 

Lt. Lasco is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren as well.
