Video: Mass. State Police Cruiser Catches Fire after Crash

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was negotiating a curve in Northfield when his cruiser went off the road and struck a utility pole, bursting into flames.

A Massachusetts State Police cruiser burst into flames following a crash Monday.

The incident happened just before 3 p.m. as a trooper was driving in Northfield, WWLP-TV reports. The right front tire of the cruiser—a 2014 Ford Explorer—drifted onto the shoulder as the trooper negotiated a curve.

The trooper wasn't able to return to the roadway and struck a utility police. After the impact, the cruiser caught fire.

The trooper was uninjured in the crash, which is under investigation.
