SALINA, NY—An Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy fractured her arm in a collision with another vehicle Thursday in the town of Salina, deputies said.

At about 6:45 p.m., the deputy was driving north on Old Liverpool road just south of Beechwood Avenue in a sheriff’s office SUV when a Chevy Impala exited a Byrne Dairy parking lot, entering the path of the SUV, sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said.

The deputy was unable to avoid the Impala, Seeber said. The vehicles collided, he said.

Both drivers were injured, Seeber said. The 28-year-old deputy was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a fractured arm, Seeber said.

The driver of the Impala, a 24-year-old from Liverpool, had to be extricated by firefighters, Seeber said. The driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for neck pain, he said.

No tickets have been issued as of Thursday, Seeber said. Deputies are still investigating the crash, he said.
