A New Mexico deputy was killed in an interstate collision with a tractor-trailer Tuesday.
Doña Ana County Sheriff's Deputy Antonio Aleman, who was on duty, was traveling along Interstate 10 near the Avenida de Mesilla exit at about 5 p.m. when the crash happened, the agency stated in a social media post. Aleman was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
Aleman, 33, is survived by his wife and two children. His body was escorted by deputies to the Officer of Medical Investigators, the sheriff's office stated.
"Deputy Aleman has been a valuable asset to the Sheriff's Office since April 2021 and will be dearly missed,: the agency stated.
