Two Texas Deputies Injured in Hit-and-Run at Traffic Stop

Sept. 28, 2021
The Dallas County sheriff's deputies were halfway in their squad car when it was hit by a pickup truck, which struck another vehicle as it fled.

Two sheriff’s deputies were injured when a pickup hit a squad car and crashed into another car Monday morning on Interstate 20, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The truck hit the squad car shortly after 9:30 a.m. while the car was at a traffic stop on westbound I-20 near Mountain Creek Parkway. The truck continued and crashed into another car as it fled, the sheriff’s office said.

The deputies were halfway in the car when it was hit, and both were taken to hospitals in stable condition. The driver of the second vehicle that was struck was also taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help to identify the truck, which they say is a red extended-cab Ford F-150 from the late 1990s or early 2000s. The truck was last seen headed west on I-20 toward Grand Prairie.

The sheriff’s office said the truck has damage to its front right side and rear, and there may be black paint transferred from the vehicles it struck.

Anyone with information may call the Dallas Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Unit at 214-589-2315 or the Sheriff’s Department Communications Section.
