In Case You Missed It: Dodge Announced Its 2019 Dodge Pursuit Vehicles

July 3, 2018
Say hello to the 2019 Dodge Durango and Charger Pursuit

During this year's National Sheriffs' Association Conference and Tradeshow in New Orleans, Dodge unlocked some doors and expanded its police vehicle lineup with the Dodge Durango Pursuit SUV. It coincides with the announcement of the 2019 Dodge Charger Pursuit which received a few modern interactivity updates enhancing some convenience for the law enforcement officer.

Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge//SRT, Chrysler, and FIAT, FCA - North America is quoted in the official announcement, “Dodge already leads the police pursuit sedan business with the proven Charger Pursuit, and we believe the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit SUV will expand our appeal to an even broader audience and take our game to the next level in terms of performance.”

“The Durango gives law enforcement agencies even more of what they want: a more spacious interior room, a higher ride height, HEMI® V-8 performance and efficiency.”

The New 2019 Durango Pursuit Features

  • A new front fascia with integrated brake-cooling air ducts for improved brake performance and durability
  • For added control and stability, a new performance-tuned, load-leveling suspension to bolster its pursuit-level driving capabilities

Dodge plans on offering the Durango with two engine options. The standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is rated at 293 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Alternatively, agencies can decide to go for something a bit beefier with the 5.7L HEMI V-8. This is rated at a "best-in-class" 360-horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Both Durango models will be equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive.

With last year's Charger 5.7 AWD clocking in with a top speed of 150 mph and a consistent dynamic lap time of the higher 1:30's with Michigan State Police Tests, it will be very interesting to see what the Durango will be capable of when compared to the sedan counterpart (if in fact the Durango will be evaluated).

Dodge reports that the 2019 Dodge Durango Pursuit will be available for orders later this summer. Agencies can call 800-999-3533 for more information.

If you're looking for something a bit sleeker, Dodge announced a few updates to the Charger Pursuit sedan on June 28. Along with remaining one of the best-performing pursuit-rated vehicles available, the sedan continues to the Officer Protection Package. This no-cost package provides a "rear-facing camera and sensors to detect movement behind the vehicle, giving officers an extra set of eyes in the backs of their heads." A notification alert pops up on the Uconnect touchscreen when movement is detected. So, if you're looking for a new monitor for the patrol vehicle fleet, tick this purchase off - Dodge has had you covered since 2015 when the Uconnect was first introduced.

The 2019 Dodge Charger Pursuit Enhancements Include:

  • Greater range of screen brightness settings to better accommodate individual officer preferences
  • Usable area on Uconnect 12.1-inch touchscreen has been increased to 97 percent (from 87 percent)
  • New USB connectivity increases tracking and input speed for keyboard and mouse

The Charger Pursuit sedan is available in the V-6, V-8 and V-8 all-wheel drive. Check out the full details of the latest model at Officer.com/21011865.
