Dashboard camera footage shows two Des Moines police officers pulling a grief-stricken man to safety as he began to go over the railing of a bridge over the Des Moines River.

A man threatening to jump from a bridge was saved by two Iowa police officers before he could leap into the river below.

The incident happened last week as two Des Moines police officers came across an SUV stopped along a bridge over the Des Moines River, KCCI-TV reports. In footage from a dashboard camera, a man and woman appear to be arguing on the bridge.

But officers soon discovered that the woman was attempting to comfort the man who was grief-stricken over the death of a loved one. As the man began stepping over the railing of the bridge, the officers stepped and pulled him to safety.
