RANDOLPH, Massachusetts — A coordinated street takeover investigation by the Randolph Police Department has resulted in criminal charges against 17 individuals accused of endangering motorists and interfering with responding officers during an October 2025 incident.
According to Randolph Police, the event occurred early Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at the intersection of North Main and Oak streets, where a large crowd gathered as vehicles performed drifting maneuvers and donuts in the roadway. Investigators allege participants blocked intersections to facilitate the activity while spectators surrounded the scene and recorded video for social media.
Police reported that when the first officer arrived, a crowd surrounded the cruiser, preventing access to the intersection. Individuals allegedly struck the vehicle, blocked its movement, and ignited fireworks on and around the cruiser. Officers estimated that nearly 100 people were present in the roadway.
Following the incident, detectives launched an extensive investigation that included reviewing cruiser dash camera footage, nearby business surveillance video, and publicly posted social media content. Investigators also obtained a search warrant for information linked to several Instagram accounts believed to be connected to the event. According to police, recovered messages indicated organizers shared locations, provided instructions, and encouraged participants to impede law enforcement.
Randolph Police identified multiple individuals who investigators allege took part in blocking officers, surrounding the cruiser, or performing dangerous driving maneuvers. Authorities further believe some participants traveled together to multiple takeover locations across several Massachusetts communities that same night.
As a result of the investigation, 17 individuals have been charged in Quincy District Court with offenses including conspiracy, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating to endanger, number plate violations, and related charges.
The court issued arrest warrants for some defendants and summonses for others. Several individuals are scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, April 22, in Quincy District Court.
“Street takeovers create dangerous conditions for everyone involved, including the responding officers, anyone traveling in that area and residents who live nearby,” said Chief Anthony Marag. “This case required extensive investigative work and strong coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies. I commend our detectives for the time and effort they put into identifying those responsible, and I also want to recognize the patrol officers who faced a volatile situation that night and continued working to keep the community safe.”
The investigation remains open, and Randolph Police said they are continuing to coordinate with regional law enforcement partners.
All charges are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
