Arkansas Police Officer Killed in Shooting at Hotel

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas -- A Pine Bluff police detective was killed and another officer was wounded in a shooting Monday afternoon.

Detective Kevin Collins and Lt. Ralph Isaac were met with gunfire when they arrived at the Econo Lodge motel on Black Street around 12:05 p.m., according to KTHV-TV.

Collins, a 5-year veteran with the force who worked in the violent crimes unit died, while Isaac suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Two people who are believed to be involved in the shooting were wounded and were later released to Arkansas State Police custody for questioning.

Funeral arrangements for Collins are pending.
