Watch: Wanted Suspect Hides in Storm Drain After Grappler Ends Calif. Police Chase

A suspect wanted on a felony warrant unsuccessfully tried to evade Corona police by running through a wooded area and hiding inside a storm drain after his vehicle was disabled by a Grappler device.

What to Know

  • A felony warrant suspect led Riverside and Corona police on a late-night pursuit before a Grappler device disabled his vehicle.
  • Video shows the suspect abandoning the car, running through a wooded area and climbing into a storm drain to avoid arrest.
  • Air support tracked the suspect's movements, and police ultimately took him into custody on the outstanding warrant and reckless evading allegations.

Once Corona police joined the chase, they deployed a Grappler device, which brought the suspect's vehicle to a halt. That's when he abandoned the car and tried to flee on foot.

Corona police's air unit was part of the response, and it was able to keep track of the suspect as he ran through a wooded area. In order to elude police, the suspect finally tried to hide in a storm drain.

The officers, however, were better at playing hide and seek. They eventually took the suspect into custody.

According to Corona police, the suspect was wanted on an active felony warrant and for reckless evading.
