Chicago Police Open Fire after Witnessing Gunman Shoot 2

Chicago police officers were on patrol in the Englewood neighborhood when an armed man exited a vehicle and shot at an SUV, wounding a man and a teen.

A Chicago police officer opened fire on a gunman Saturday after he witnessed the armed suspect shoot and wound two people Saturday.

The shooting happened at around 7 p.m. while officers were on patrol in the Englewood neighborhood, WLS-TV reports. That's when the officers saw an armed man exit a car and begin firing at an SUV.

A 54-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were struck by the gunfire, and they were rushed to the hospital. No details were released concerning their conditions.

Following the shooting, an officer began firing at the shooter, as well as two people inside the vehicle the gunman had exited. The three suspects escaped police, and the vehicle was later found abandoned.

No one has been arrested stemming from the incident, but a weapon was recovered at the scene.
