A Chicago police officer was shot and wounded during a struggle with a fleeing suspect on May 29.
Recently released body camera footage captured the incident, which left the suspect dead when officers returned fire.
The wounded officer was hospitalized and released two days later, and the shooting is under investigation.
A violent struggle last month with Chicago police and a gunman left an officer wounded when the suspect's gun was discharged.
The incident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. May 29, and the Chicago Civilian Office of Police Accountability released body camera footage of the shooting Tuesday.
In the incident, officers were trying to detain a 19-year-old man—identified as Nathaniel Fejerang—when a foot chase ensued, WBBM-TV reports. When police reached Fejerang, a scuffle ensued.
As officers and Fejerang fought on the ground, the suspect's gun discharged, according to police. An officer was struck in the leg, and his colleagues returned fire, fatally shooting Fejerang.
The wounded officer was rushed to the hospital in a cruiser. He was released on May 31.
