A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was wounded while responding to a call on East 36th Street in the NoDa area of north Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The name of the officer has not been released, but he is expected to recover.
It happened Tuesday, June 28, in the 400 block of E. 36 Street, CMPD said in a tweet.
“Officers responded to a shooting into an occupied dwelling around 2:30 a.m.,” CMPD reported.
“While on scene, an officer was struck by gunfire in the upper leg and was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. There is no indication at this time officers returned fire.”
Police were responding to an incident at the Blind Pig restaurant when the officer was struck in the leg by gunfire, WSOC reports. Police did not return fire, the station said.
