NEW YORK -- NYPD officers in East Harlem stopped a teen from bleeding and arrested the suspect a short time later over the weekend.

Officers Brady and Ortiz responded early Saturday morning after one teen slashed another teen across both arms, causing large lacerations going down to the bone on 3rd Avenue, according to a news release.

With blood everywhere, the officers jumped into action and calmly applied tourniquets to the victim's arms and rushed him to a local hospital.

The officers then reviewed security footage and sent it out to other officers. A short time later, Officers Bischoff and Medina spotted the suspect and made an arrest.

The incident is currently under investigation.
