TOLEDO, OH—A Toledo police officer decided to join the cheerleading squad during a recent football game at her former high school for a routine that has now gone viral.

WTOL Channel 11 reports Brooklyn Esser, in full uniform, still remembered the moves while the Whitmer High School’s band played its fight song. Her former cheerleading coach saw Esser and invited her to participate, WTVG Channel 13 reports.

“Seeing them all have fun, I was kind of missing out,” Esser said. “But my coach actually came over to me and she was like, ‘Brooklyn, get out here.’”

WTVG reports Esser was a cheerleader while attending Whitmer less than 10 years ago. Esser told WTOL that she hopes the fun moment results in a positive view of police officers.

“Police officers are actual humans,” she said. “We like to have fun. We like to not be so serious all the time. We like to interact with the community.”
