Three Union City, New Jersey police officers were injured after being hit by motorcycles while responding to a fatal crash Wednesday night.
Police responded to the crash involving a 16-year-old boy riding a bicycle and a garbage truck on 31st Street and Palisade Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to WCBS-TV.
A crowd gathered and as the officers arrived when witnesses say two motorcycles barreled through the crime scene, striking them.
One of the motorcyclists was injured when he was thrown off his bike. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The other motorcyclist sped away from the scene but was later taken into custody. Both men face charges
"Please pray for all the officers injured in Union City incident tonight," the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association said in a tweet. "Officers have been taken to area hospitals."
All three police officers are expected to survive the crash.
